One often repeated phrase that I heard growing up came from my grandfather, who would often say “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”. In other words, if you work hard at doing the things you like doing, then maybe you can one day monetize your hobbies and live off of the proceeds.

While that hasn’t been true for me so far (once I build my kombucha empire, it’ll be all over for my “haters”), one viral tweet sparked a conversation that shows that it’s entirely possible to do what you love…for a living:

And even when people’s passions don’t result in success beyond measure, the community that one makes from pursuing their interests can be a treasure in itself:
