I could sit here and tell you that video games rot your kids brains and can trigger violence in our youth, but I'm not because I think that's stupid. We are a gamer family and there's nothing wrong with kicking back and playing some games with your kids. Here are our top 5 favorite games to rot our brains to in no particular order.

Among Us

Among us can be played online which means it can be played on almost any device. It takes place on a spaceship where you try to win the round by finding out who the imposter on the ship is. You either get assigned to be a crew mate or you could end up as the imposter.

I hate Trent to play games online with people we don't know so luckily it's easy to generate a private code so you can only play with people you know. While you can play with strangers there's very limited player to player interaction. Our family all lives pretty far away so it's a fun way to play games with family members that aren't nearby.

Super Smash Bros

smash bros

Super Smash Bros has been a favorite of ours for a long time. You get to choose a character and battle each other. They brawl without the blood so the violence is more like watching Looney Tunes.

Minecraft

Minecraft I'm honestly not a huge fan of but Trent is obsessed. The pixels really mess with my eyes. The nice thing is that you can play together and it allows your kids creativity to flow while they build things.

minecraft

Castle Crashers

castle

In this game you hack and slash at enemies with swords, pitchforks alongside joke weapons like carrots and fish. It's a 2-D side scrolling game so it's easy to catch on and can make for hours of entertainment.

Mario Kart

mario

Mario Kart will always be my favorite racing game. You can choose which Mario character to be and customize your cart. You can get different abilities to get ahead and take out the people racing with you. This is the game I am super competitive over and will never say no to playing.

I hope this list encourages you to play some games with your kids! Have fun!
